Only Pink Panther will do

This week the temps here in the mornings are like 30 degrees or 0 in celsius! It is frozen on the ground but still we are surrounded by fall colors. So I bundle the little dude up in what was his Halloween costume but also the warmest and most cozy bear suit there is and we go out with the dogs, one by one. We admire the colors and the crisp mornings turning into winter. He is cozy surrounded by a thick layer of faux fur and I try to bundle as much as possible. Pushkin, our husky is bulking up with his own fur coats. Luna gets to wear a cute fleece.

Our little guy is more and more fun each day. Every day brings new learnings and understanding that makes life most a delight. He still isn’t a big fan of sleep which makes life harder but his rounds of “Where’s Tadej?” and laughing make up for a lot of it. He is babbling away and demands book reading time throughout the day (which I totally love). We read and reread from his already pretty great collection of reads. He brings me a book and crawls into my lap and all is well.

But there is one quirk that is cracking me up beyond all others these days and that is that there is only one song that will soothe and comfort him. He demands this song in the car and before bed. We sing it in a variety of ways and play it on our phone. While he is a big fan of “Baby Beluga” and “Apples and Bananas” and “Tasi Tasi Tanana,” there is one song right now heads above the rest…yes, even beyond his favorite “Edelweiss.” You will never guess but its the Pink Panther Theme song. How did we discover this? I will never remember how it came about but it is the only true companion for our 11 month old. I cannot tell you how many times we have heard this song in a row in each car ride. I cannot tell you how many times in the middle of the night I have to bust out my own version. But each time, a deep calm comes over my kid and it is pure peace that encloses him with the smooth sounds of a jazzy saxophone in just the right way.

And it makes me giggle each and every time.
