Good morning!

Today’s Reading:

John 1:1-9

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.

This morning I just woke up and rolled out of bed to go get my coffee and reflect. And I notice….there are places in my body that are sore that I never knew existed.  How can this be?  Well, I have to tell you that the gardening season is up and running full blown.  I moved wheelbarrows and wheelbarrows full of soil to garden beds!  I prepped areas and moved other stuff to get ready.  We planted our blueberries and prepped all around us as our blueberry garden friend has told us to do.  I had dirt in places I didn’t know I could get dirt.  The seedlings are doing well and the planning is on.  Potatoes will go in the ground this week…the strawberries and herbs are planted.

And it feels oh so good.  Yesterday was a gorgeous day and it felt oh so good to be out in it for hours living in the soil and weeding in the ground.  From that perspective a little bit of light makes all the difference in the world.  In March, we had something like 200 percent the amount of rain we usually have in March.  While this may have been good for months to come, for me it meant I was ready for just a bit of light for a day.  I yearned for a chance to see the beautiful flowers coming out of the ground.  I yearned for a change to see colors outside of the color grey.  Yesterday the light was shining through the darkness and God called it good.

Today as I reflect in my soreness, it feels good to have moved on the earth in a different way.  To prep the beds to contribute to growth and growing my own food.  We are hoping to have many veggies to add to our freezer and to eat during the correct seasons.  I find it to be refreshing to weed and maintain a growing bed of miraculous food plus it helps the world if I do my part in sustainable living.  Even more, it helps my body to eat healthy and local. In the beginning was the Word and that word was life.  There are beginnings of life all around us….in word, in motion, in activity, in planting, in reconnecting, in birth….

In my personal life, there are some important family events happening.  Today my cousins had their third kiddo…a new little baby boy McHill.  And then yesterday I caught up with a cousin I haven’t talked to in probably 10-11 years and we found that we could be really great friends.  We are preparing for newness.

In the church life, we are preparing for a couple of really exciting things. Holy week is quickly approaching which means new experiences for me plus we are launching another worship service on Easter.  We will have two celebration services for the Easter season.  This is new and exciting and could go many ways.  We look forward to seeing what will happen.  With a little light, you never know!

Enjoy what glimpses of spring you receive today!

Peace,

Court
