Today’s reading:

1 Peter 1:13-16

13Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed. 14Like obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires that you formerly had in ignorance. 15Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; 16for it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Have you seen this? Every year the Washington Post has it’s “Peep Show.” They ask people to submit their own peep dioramas to be judged for the show.  Here are some examples…

The creativity is astounding!  Go ahead…google “Peep Dioramas” and you will get a plethora of other things to see.  You could even just go to the Washington Post and see who won this year for the “Peep Show.” Pretty impressive.

I have a few friends who do this every year with other parts of their family.  They think on how to recreate the peep scenes every year and get really into it.  I remember one year she sent me her entry just to have a peek and it was peep runners.  She had built legs onto the peep chickens and they were stretching and getting ready.  They all had little outfits and such. Another year I saw a friend posted a yoga peep scene.  Very creative.

It is amazing to me how people can let their artistic and creative sides show!  One minute they are in the business world and then they create a masterpiece in peeps (better than eating them, I say!).  And perhaps in some ways this is what is meant when our writer of 1 Peter says that our minds should take action.  In the spring, as buds start appearing and a yellow round thing in the sky sometimes makes an appearance in between bouts of rain, we also start to wake up a bit.  Our creative juices have been brewing all winter and we are eager to step out into the world to create.  Even if creation takes the form of a different kind of art form, our minds are engaged in action.

What are some other ways you could start to take action this spring? Is there someplace you have always wanted to volunteer in? Saturday breakfast? ReStore? Someplace else?

Is there a creation dying to get out of your head and into the world?
What about that fitness routine you have wanted to try?
The friend you could write a creative letter to?
Or that instrument you have always wanted to pick up?

Just remember it starts with this… and may become something like this…..
Enjoy!
