Then he took the twelve aside and said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be handed over to the Gentiles; and he will be mocked and insulted and spat upon. After they have flogged him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.” But they understood nothing about all these things; in fact, what he said was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.

Many of you know that this is a very important time for me.  Very important indeed. This can be a heartbreaking time for me and a hopeful time for me.  This is not all just because of Holy Week starting on Sunday but because it is also….March Madness time.  

My brother Grant sends out the invite to create our brackets.  Do I know that much about basketball?  Well, I have learned over the years who is expected to be alright or not so much. This is the only time of year when I know anything about basketball!  I put out my feelers and ask around.  I ponder and choosing my bracket kinda goes like this….

This is Kid President. I love this kid and I love how he is choosing his bracket.  I also love that he starts it all off by claiming “it is time for some hope!” That seems to be Kid President’s motto in all of his videos.

Kid President looks at the options in his bracket.  Weighs where he comes from up against the good teams.  He looks at his favorites (Andrew loves that he loves Gonzaga) and looks at where Wolverine comes from to look at who will take all. He even changes the names to represent excitement. Michigo! Kid President even has an assistant that he loves on while he is making his choices.  What is to come? Not sure but let’s give it a shot! I admire this kid.  Now, I have already picked my bracket and have looked to my choices.  Some were risky choices because you have to take one or two each year…something will happen.  It always does.  There will be heartbreak and there will be joy.  I will follow my bracket very closely…mainly because my sister in law Shaheen seems to always win these things! I will cheer and jeer even if Holy Week is right around the corner.

Ok, stay with me here….even though this seems silly there are many emotions that come with March Madness.  And there will be many emotions next week…it actually begins before Holy Week comes down. Our Luke passage is getting us ready.  Our Luke passage is laying out the unfilled bracket.  Jesus is telling the disciples how this will all go down and they don’t get it. I am not surprised because I still don’t get it. I can hope. I can encourage. I can lay out what I think might happen and still next week will happen and it will change me precisely because I kinda know how it will go down but I still have no idea.
